Parents: The following information was shared with your students.
Counselors will be meeting with students through social studies classes for course selection. They will be set up in the hall and will be pulling students out individually to review current academic 4 year plans and assist in course selections for next year.
This process will be ongoing and will last approximately 3 weeks.
All students will receive copies of their individual transcripts to review as part of the advising process. All students will also receive a copy of their 4 year plan as well as a course selection sheet. Course selection sheets should be signed by a parent and returned no later than 3/6/2026.
Counselors will be focusing on CCRI attainment as a primary component of the course selection and academic advising process. As a reminder, here are the ways to earn a CCRI:
-- Benchmark score in any subject on the ACT College Entrance Exam
-- Qualifying score of 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement (AP) Exam
-- College credit while still in high school (dual enrollment)
-- Silver or gold level on WorkKeys exam
-- Career technical industry credential
-- Career and Technical Education (CTE) completer status (three qualifying courses in one career pathway minimum average of 70 in each of the 3)
-- Military enlistment
-- Completion of an in-school apprenticeship program
-- Qualifying score of 4 or higher on an International Baccalaureate (IB) Exam
Dual enrollment courses are available for students in grades 10-12. Next year, all standard DE courses will be online courses. They will have to fit into your schedule at the beginning or at the end of your school day to be scheduled. All DE courses must be completed off campus, which means you must have your own transportation. CaHS will not provide space or time on campus for DE studies.
Only seniors are allowed to have late start or early out. However, DE students may not be on campus all periods of the day due to the scheduling of their DE courses. Also, juniors and seniors are able to apply to the Co-Op program, which does allow students to be off campus part of the day for employment purposes. However, this is a class that awards credit for which a grade will be assigned.
To be eligible for late start or early out, seniors must have earned a CCRI, possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, be on track in graduation credits, and have their own DAILY transportation to school.
